confused~!

nyeh just watched 'I am legend' on vcd and the ending scene is different ZOMG!
okeh since you cant possibly watch it in the cinemas anymore, the ending goes like this,
1. will smith and the woman, Anna, and her son, Ethan, go down to his lab in the basement, followed close by the infected people/vampire creatures .
2. so the three of them go into the room with thick glass walls, where a vampire girl lay, having been injected with the possible vaccine earlier on in the show.
3. Anna saw that the vampire girl was getting better and realizes that wow the vaccine actually worked!
3. the vampire chief dude is still slamming relentlessly against the glass and the rest of the vampire dudes are howling and stuff
4. then will smith has a revelation!
5. he rmb-ed his daughter saying during their last moments together, "daddy look it's a butterfly~!"
6. then he looks at the cracks on the glass and realizes that it forms the shape of a butterfly.
7. then he looks back at Anna and notices a butterfly tattoo at the nape of her neck.
8. then he withdraws a sample of the vampire girl's blood and passes this to Anna and tells her to hide in this cubby hole thing at the back of the room and to stay there till dawn, when the vampires will retreat/melt, then leave for the 'survivors' colony' to pass them 'the cure'.
9. Anna tells him to stay with them but he says, No cos they wont go away.
10. then he closes the door, grabs a hand grenade from one of the drawers and charges towards the bloody vampire bastards.
11. at dawn, Anna drives off for the colony (and makes it there safely), with her voice in the background saying how Will Smith sacrificed his life in finding the cure something something.
